EUROPEAN SOCIAL ECONOMY INTERGROUP

The European Parliament re-introduced the Social Economy Intergroup in the assessment of the policy making process. The decision was taken with the support of more than 80 MEPs from different political groups and a shared bunch of values.

The Social Economy Intergroup could be an occasion to enforce the dialogue between the European Parliament and the economic actors especially under the prospective of social values. Moreover, the creation of the Social Economy Intergroup ensures a stronger consideration of social values in the policy processes of the European Institutions.

The director of Cooperatives Europe, Mr Klaus Niederländer declared: “We are satisfied with the re-establishment of the intergroup. Cooperatives Europe and its members have been actively promoting the renewal of the intergroup and we are happy to see that our demands have been taken into account.” The following months shall be significant in order to measure the impact of this new group of the European Parliament and the role played in the policy making process.
