Shanghai's International Intellectual Property (IP) Forum held in last December discussed current trends in IP development, IP use and value, and protecting IP in free trade zone.

The Shanghai government signed a memorandum of understanding at the Forum with WIPO, which has helped Shanghai enter a new era of IP protection.

Shen Changyu, commissioner of (SIPO), affirmed the Chinese government's commitment to IP innovation and protection. Shanghai has taken the lead in reforms in IP, and that the Forum is expected to promote Shanghai's IP development, and boost IP innovation in the global market.

In addition, Shanghai is exploring ways to reform the IP management and law enforcement through Intellectual Property courts hoping to become a scientific and technological innovation centre with a global impact.
