After 30 years of massive transformation, China is today a global super power and the world’s second biggest economy. In the past decade, China has marked many milestones, from rapid urbanization and economic growth to social and political development. Such transformations have and will continue to have an increasing impact on the rest of the world.
On the other hand, China is still an emerging economy with stark regional differences and social inequalities which has now reached a turning point where “growth at any cost” is not a viable solution anymore. The country is in much need of a new growth model both socially inclusive and environmentally sound. In order to realize this aim, further institutional strengthening and reform are paramount to ensure a sustainable development and social stability.
gLAWcal brings together multidisciplinary teams to address many aspects of China policy implementation, which are of crucial importance both in the domestic and international arena.
Our organization also seeks to reach China’s growing civil society realm to establish bottom-up collaboration on many issues of social concern for the realization of the rule of law.
