Globalization and new media require innovative ways of protecting intellectual property rights in China's cultural and creative businesses, said industry insiders at the 6th Forum on Chinese Ethnic Cultural Industry Development. The forum was held in last December at Communication University of China in Beijing, the first time that it joined hands with a university. And its theme was international communication and improvement of legal systems. Delegates suggested that China must pay attention to the nature of the Internet when making laws and regulations on IPRs, need to meet the international standard set by the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances, need to build a fair IP system for the development of Chinese traditional cultural resource and the growth of the cultural industry, need to protect intangible cultural heritages, and so on.
