An extraction technology to extract an ingredient from celery to improve the medicines used in thetreatment of strokes has been sold to a pharmaceutical factory on 25th this month. Professor Chang Junbiao and his research team at Zhengzhou University have extracted an ingredient from celery to improve the medicines used in the treatment of strokes. In late November, a pharmaceutical factory paid the research team45 million yuan ($7.33 million) to buy the intellectual property right for the extraction technology, Dahe Daily reported. A new drug based on the technology, which causes fewer side effects, is expected to undergo clinical trials next April and could be available to patients in four years' time.
