Dr. HAN Xiao, PhD is a Fellow at gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development and was a EU Commission Marie Curie Fellow and Visiting Scholar
(2014-2015) at gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development in the framework of the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under REA grant agreement n°269327 Acronym of the Project: EPSEI (2011-2015) “Evaluating Policies for
Sustainable Energy Investments: Towards an Integrated Approach on National and International Stage”.
Currently, Dr. Han Xiao works as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Center for Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law (THCEREL), Tsinghua University
with a research on Green Building Regulation and Policy of China (funded by Tsinghua University in Beijing) and as the Director-Architect at Beijing Industrial Design and Research Institute on a research project about the Green Industrial and Automobile Yizhuang Science and Technology Park (funded by the Chinese Branch of Mercedes Benz Group and Beijing Automotive Group).
Dr. Han obtained a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (1999-2004) at Chongqing University of Architecture and Technology with a final dissertation on Chinese
Traditional Architecture, a Master Degree in Architecture (2004-2007) with a dissertation on Green Building Engineering and Policy. Then she continued her
academic and research career at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University as a PhD Candidate in Architecture with a dissertation on Comparative Study of the Energy Performance of Green Building and Energy Saving Building. From 2011 to 2013, she worked as Lecturer at Beijing University of Civil Engineering
and Architecture, as Director of China Civil Engineering and Architecture Society and as an Independent Registered Architect in China.
In the year of 2013, she was selected as one of the standing directors of Beijing Industrial and Architecture Society and joined the research team of Beijing Industrial Designing and Research Institute.
Her main research areas of interest are Civil Engineering Skills and Policies focus on the Green Building, Energy Saving Building and the Sustainable Development
Governance. During the last 10 years, she implemented several projects as Principal Investigator or Team Member, such as Low-energy consumption project, Qufu, China; Shanxi Industrial Park, Taiyuan, China; Green, Intelligent city along the sea, Qingdao, China.
Chinese native speaker, she is fluent in English.
